Trumpets Peddlers Rampant at Pasar Pagi Asemka

Ahead of New Year 2016, firework and trumpet peddlers start flooding Pasar Pagi Asemka area, Taman Sari, West Jakarta, Tuesday (12/29).

Beritajakarta.com observation, tens of peddlers even open stall on the sidewalk. Consequently, traffic around the location bogged down.

"It's okay to trade using sidewalk for once a year. Besides, I won't trade anymore after the New Year's Eve, I was coincidentally offered by my relative, seeing the opportunity then I accepted it," said Abdit Raharjo (34), one of peddlers.

According to him, the prices of trumpet he sold are varied. For the small ones, sold by Rp 10,000 and the big ones by Rp 20,000-50,000.

"For the fireworks are sold from Rp 50,000-Rp 500,000, until this time buyers are getting increased, so the income is quite much," he expressed.

Meanwhile, Deputy Mayor of West Jakarta, M Zen stated his party does not forbid peddlers to sell fireworks. But, his party will take firm action if the peddlers sell firecrackers and open the stall on sidewalk.

"We will observe it first to the location and how the trading is. But obviously, firecrackers are prohibited as it's dangerous and triggering conflict among groups but if it's just fireworks, go ahead," he disclosed.
